Intentional Learning & Development is not your typical learning designer.  Intentional L&D is a woman and LGBTQ+ owned business, by a first generation college graduate, and daughter of an immigrant. As a learning strategist, I have studied learning from before the cradle to beyond the career; there's a common theme that rings true throughout: High quality learning experiences are a platform for equity.  From early childhood to adult learning, this remains.  It may look different at each stage, but from that depth of understanding of how we learn— as well as how learning opportunities affect our communities, our workforce, and our economy— I approach Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Corporate Social Justice from a holistic and system level.

So, what does it look like to tackle DEI&B from a system level?  Well, it looks a little something like this:

• Eliminate policies and practices that hinder equity, thus contributing to failure

• Facilitate intentional, effective, and available opportunities to acquire and maintain relevant skills: broad, continued, and seamless access to high-quality training and skills development, including: core, social, leadership, emotionally literate, critical thinking, new and higher-level skills

• Invest in high-quality early childhood education: the foundations constructed in the first years of life are with us throughout.  Our youngest members of society are the strength we depend on for decades to come (our future workforce) and yet, our current workforce (working parents) needs the support of high-quality, low cost early childhood education and care

• Create lifelong learning opportunities: ensure that the skills of our youngest members of society, as well as our youth, job entrants, and existing workers remain relevant throughout their lives and careers

• Prepare individuals and organizations to adjust and embrace change by developing healthy environments

• Attract, support, and retain high performers from a diverse pool of applicants, as well as seek diversity of input and thought from stakeholders (diversity is not limited to: race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, height, weight, physical or mental ability, veteran status, military obligations, socio-economic status, and marital status) 

• Support disadvantaged communities through active listening, advocacy for policy change, self and cause education, investment, mentorship, and continuous self-improvement
